Hey you can download MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS antivirus program……It is far much better than all the antiviruses like kaspersky, mcafee, norton etc and also is free of cost

If your not willing to pay for an anti-virus I suggest Avast Home Premium. Also have Windows Firewall and Defender running and run a scan with Malwarebytes every week or fortnight depending on what you do and what you have on your computer. I think this is the best free solution to protection.

There’s loads of good free anti-virus programs around.

For general protection I used to recommend AVG or Avast free editions but I’ve found that Microsoft Security Essentials – http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ – gives just as good protection but is faster and uses less resources.

The test results from tests that AV-Test.org.did returned good for it as well. It found 98.44% of all viruses and trojans, 90.95% of adware and spyware, 100% of rootkits.

The test at http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10366232-83.html found that it ws only “average” in speed against other anti-virus programs but personally I found it’s far less intrusive than most.

The use of any of these programs doesn’t mean you can leave common sense behind and click on everything and anything you come across. No security program can be completely safe, as new viruses and variants are developed all the time and this is what makes computers vulnerable to zero-day attacks.

It doesn’t matter if your anti-virus program is free or not, they both offer roughly the same degree of protection, except you get help and support with the paid versions. I’ve had computers that have used the free version AVG for years with no problem and I’ve worked in companies that have McAfee Enterprise Edition and Microsoft ForeFront where computers have become infected.

Looks like you need something to protect you full time. There are a few fan favorites like AntiVir Personal 10.0.0.609, Avast! Free Antivirus 5.1.864, AVG Free Edition, and even Microsoft has a pretty good one called Microsoft Security Essentials. Keep in mind that NO anti-virus software is perfect so its up to you to keep your anti-virus software up tp date, watch your step online and avoid opening strange email attachments or visiting dangerous websites. Another good tool to have on your browser is McAfee SiteAdvisor http://www.siteadvisor.com/ … It gives you warnings on search results with a color safety system (Red, Yellow, Green) with explanations on why the site was given that particular rating for safer browsing. I have been using it for many years! ;-) Good Luck!

I use AVG 2011 (free). Works great

Just personal opinion of course. I use Avast , I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.
